Hi.
I am offering a hard to find Early Tascam 122 Master cassette deck. Last night I spent 5 hours rebuilding the transport with new belts and both idler tires, which called for complete removal of transport, removal of capstan and capstan motor. Fear not. I have maintained decks, even this model back in the 80's in a recording  studio, and still maintain most all tape formats. I've held 2 high level FCC licenses in electronics for decades. And I'm an audiophile.
Internally it is Clean as new. The heads nor pinch roller have no detectable wear. When I disassembled it the screws made that factory "snap" sound telling me it hasn't been taken apart before. Pictured is the belt/idler kit I installed. The capstan belt isn't pictured for it had turned to "Goo", which I thoroughly cleaned leaving no traces. I have done thousands of tape decks. I cleaned entire tape path, demagnetized all tape path components, and cleaned all switches and controls. SMOOTH operation best describes this deck. All lamps work fine. Obviously, this deck saw very little use. Door cover is perfect, as is meter cover.
I did multiple playback and record tests. Spot on. Does Not sound like your typical unit of this format. Outstanding.
Externally it is very good, only showing a few marks. No dents. It's hard to find in this condition. See pics. There is a similar model listed elsewhere for Much more, and Nowhere near as nice as this one.
Widely renown as one of the best decks ever made. This 122 is ready to go at home or in the studio. The sound quality is excellent, rich with that analogue character so many people love! The 1st gen 122s are widely known for being the best version (superior to later versions Mk2 & Mk3).
